Verena Bentele is the most successful German disabled athlete of all time. In biathlon and cross-country skiing, she has won twelve gold medals at the Paralympics and four gold medals at world championships.
Verena (*1982) joined the national junior squad in 1995 and soon started to win the first medals. She was voted Bavarian Disabled Sportswoman of the Year in 2005 and Sportswoman of the Year of the German Disabled Sports Association in 2006. She came fourth in the election for Sportswoman of the Year in 2010, received a Bambi in the sports category and was awarded the Bavarian Sports Prize in the same year. For Verena, the greatest success is that disabled sport has gained a new status in the public's perception.
In 2011 she ended her sporting career and trained to become a systemic coach. From 2014 to 2018, she was the Federal Government Commissioner for the Disabled and since May 2018, she has been President of the Social Association VdK.
As a successful professional athlete, she knows the tips and tricks for self-motivation and motivating others. She passes on this experience to companies and institutions as an expert in human resource development, coach and top speaker. She also supports numerous social projects that promote young talent.
