Sabine Christiansen is one of Germany’s most popular journalists. She is pioneer and role model for the rise of women in TV journalism. From 1998 to 2008 Sabine Christiansen was the head of the most important and most watched political debate in German television – named after her. Nearly all important heads of state and government as well as international economic leaders were guests of “Christiansen”. She was the first German journalist who produced and presented an international programme on CNBC for several years. Beforehand Sabine Christiansen presented for ten years “ARD Tagesthemen” – one of Germany’s most important news magazines. Born in 1957 in Schleswig-Holstein and grown up in Kiel and Hamburg, Sabine Christiansen completed a language training for English, French and Spanish and worked seven years for Deutsche Lufthansa. Afterwards she became a journalist at Norddeutscher Rundfunk. She started her career as a business and economic editor for NDR and the daily news programme “Tagesschau”. She also produced numerous award-winning documentaries and reports. For her work she received all important media awards – some of the repeatedly. Since 2002 Sabine Christiansen is self-employed media entrepreneur. She is board member for Hermes Europe GmbH and freenet AG. Sabine Christiansen is Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF Germany, Chairwoman of the Sabine Christiansen children’s foundation and Vice-Chairwoman of the Laureus Sports Foundation. For her social commitment she received numerous awards – among others she is Knight of the Legion of Honour (French Republic) and received the Federal Cross of Merit.
