Frank Plasberg is one of the best-known German TV presenters. As host of the ARD political talk show "Hart aber fair", Plasberg is considered the toughest political talker on German television. He had been the face of "Hart aber fair" for more than two decades and almost 750 broadcasts before retiring in 2022. Frank Plasberg (*1957) was already a freelancer for the Rheinische Post as a schoolboy. After graduating from high school, his career as a journalist took him first to the Schwäbische Zeitung for a traineeship and then to the Münchner Abendzeitung as a police reporter. In 1980, he presented his first radio programme for SWF3 and seven years later he appeared in front of the camera for the first time together with Christine Westermann for WDR's Aktuelle Stunde. In 1993, he became the programme's editorial director before becoming the presenter of the political talk show "Hart aber fair" in 2001, which was first broadcasted on WDR and then on ARD in 2007. With his company Ansager & Schnipselmann, founded in 2005, he produces the ARD programme, among others. On ARD and its regional programmes, Plasberg also hosts various quiz programmes and the talk show "plasberg persönlich". He also co-hosted the election programmes for the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia with Jörg Schönenborn, as well as the television duel for the 2009 Bundestag elections. Frank Plasberg is awarded numerous prizes for his work. In 2005 he was awarded the Hanns Joachim Friedrichs Prize and the Adolf Grimme Prize for his programme "Hart aber fair" and was named Journalist of the Year in the field of politics. In 2008, he was awarded a Bambi in the category of moderation. The successful and multi-award-winning journalist impresses as a moderator as well as a lecturer with his eloquence and charisma. As a moderator, there is no situation that he is not up to and that he cannot save with humour - as a speaker, he convinces with his clear attitude and structure.
