Ulrich Deppendorf is one of Germany's best-known television journalists. For eight years he was studio manager and editor-in-chief of television at the ARD Capital Studio in Berlin. He presented "Report from Berlin" 298 times as well as the ARD summer interviews together with his deputy. Ulrich Deppendorf (*1950) grew up in Essen and Dinslaken, studied law at the University of Münster and passed the First State Examination in 1976. He began his television career in 1976 at Westdeutscher Rundfunk in Cologne. After various positions, including First Editor-in-Chief of ARD-aktuell in Hamburg, Deppendorf became Head of the ARD Capital Studio in 1999 and as Editor-in-Chief of Television he presented the weekly "Report from Berlin". In 2002 he moved to Cologne and became television director of WDR, the station for which he has worked in various positions since his traineeship. Ulrich Deppendorf also became ARD television film coordinator in 2003 and in 2007 the journalist returned to head the ARD's capital city studio until he retired in 2015. Since May 2017, he has been the voice from the capital on Klassik Radio: in his weekly radio column "Deppendorfs Woche", you can hear his view of political events in Berlin. Ulrich Deppendorf is a member of the board of trustees of Journalists Network and the Berlin School of Journalism. Since May 2018, he has been chairman of the board of the Museum Association of the German Historical Museum Unter den Linden in Berlin and since November 2018, he has been editor of the Berliner Morgenpost's "Hauptstadtbrief am Sonntag". In 2015, he received the special prize of the German Bundestag's Media Prize for Politics for his journalistic work.
