Markus Weise is one of the most successful German coaches. At the London Olympics in 2012 and in 2008 in Peking he won the Gold Medal with the German Men’s National Team. In 2004 in Athens he also won the Gold Medal with the German Women’s National Field Hockey Team thus becoming the first coach in history of field hockey to win an Olympic Gold medal in both the Men’s and Women’s competitions. From 2015 to 2019 he serves as head of concept development for DFB football academy. Since 2019 he is head of the Bundesstützpunkt Hockey in Hamburg. Since 2006 he was the Head of the German National Field Hockey Team. Previously he was the coach of the German Women’s National Field Hockey Team. As a club coach in the German Bundesliga (1st Division) he was the head coach for many years with the TSV. He was awarded coach of the Year in 2011 by the German Olympic Sports Association. In 2011 and 2013 he became European Champion with the Men’s Field Hockey Team and 2 x World and European Champion with the Men’s Indoor Hockey Team.
