Andreas Schierenbeck is one of the most experienced international top executives in the energy sector. As CEO of Hitachi Energy, he is in charge of one of the world's leading companies in energy infrastructure and electricity grids. Previously, he steered Uniper through the early stages of its strategic reorientation and subsequently founded HH2E AG, one of Germany's most ambitious companies specialising in the production of green hydrogen. His talks combine many years of international leadership experience with a practical perspective on the challenges of the global energy transition. Andreas Schierenbeck (born 1966) studied electrical engineering at Dresden University of Technology, graduating with a Master of Science. He also completed an Advanced Management Certificate at Harvard University. His professional career began in 1992 at Siemens. Over the course of two decades, he held various management roles both in Germany and abroad, including as Head of the Building Technologies North and South America division. During this time, he gained extensive experience in the fields of energy, infrastructure and international corporate management. In 2013, Schierenbeck joined ThyssenKrupp Elevator as CEO. Under his leadership, the company developed into an innovation leader in its sector and achieved the highest profitability in its history. The sale of the company for 17.2 billion euros ranks among the largest corporate takeovers in Europe. In 2019, Andreas Schierenbeck became Chief Executive Officer of Uniper SE, where he led the company's strategic reorientation and initiated the expansion of its activities in the renewable energy sector. Following his departure, he founded HH2E AG together with partners in 2021. The company aims to produce green hydrogen on an industrial scale, thereby making a significant contribution to the decarbonisation of energy intensive industries. In addition, Schierenbeck served on the National Hydrogen Council, which advises the German government on matters relating to hydrogen strategy. Since July 2024, Andreas Schierenbeck has been Chief Executive Officer of Hitachi Energy, as well as Senior Vice President and Executive Officer of Hitachi Ltd. In this role, he is responsible for the further development of technologies for power grids and energy infrastructure and is driving the global transformation of energy systems.
