Claudia Nemat is one of the leading voices at the intersection of technology, business and innovation. Her areas of expertise range from artificial intelligence and product innovation to crisis management, geopolitical strategy and critical infrastructure protection. Born in Bensberg in 1968, she studied physics and mathematics at the University of Cologne and graduated with a Master of Science in theoretical physics. Besides she taught at the Institute of Mathematics and the Institute of Theoretical Physics. From 2011 to 2025, she was a member of the Deutsche Telekom Board of Management. Initially, she headed the European business, and from 2017 onwards, she was responsible for technology and innovation as a member of the Board of Management. Her responsibilities included network technology, digital transformation and artificial intelligence, as well as product development, cyber security and global supply chains. Prior to that, she worked for McKinsey & Company for almost two decades, most recently as a senior partner and co-head of the global technology sector. She supported international companies in large-scale technology and cultural transformations, took on interim leadership roles in the IT industry and worked in both Europe and the United States. Claudia Nemat has been a member of various supervisory boards, including Lanxess, Airbus and Airbus Defence and Space. She has been a member of the ABB Board of Directors since 2025 and is a member of the Audit Committee. She is also involved in higher education: she is a member of the University Council of the University of Cologne and was awarded the Heinrich Hertz Visiting Professorship at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in 2021. After stepping down from the Deutsche Telekom Board of Management in September 2025, Claudia Nemat focuses on mandates in international supervisory bodies and involvement in deep tech and AI companies.
