Sara Weber is a journalist and author. She focuses on the world of work in times of digital transformation and explores how work can be shaped to remain sustainable under changing technological, social, and environmental conditions. In her work, she analyzes the impact of new technologies such as artificial intelligence on jobs, the expectations younger generations have of employers, and the relationship between work, climate, and social responsibility. She studied Journalism and Book Science at the University of Mainz and completed the compact class at the German School of Journalism. As a freelance journalist, she wrote for publications including Süddeutsche Zeitung, Die Zeit, and Brand Eins. From 2016 to 2021, she worked at LinkedIn, where she helped to build the German-language editorial team. In 2019, she became Editorial Lead for the DACH and Benelux regions. In the same year, Kress Pro named her one of the Editors-in-Chief of the Year, and Medium Magazin recognized her and her team among the Business Journalists of the Year. Since 2023, Sara Weber has written the column “ÜberArbeiten” for Der Spiegel, analyzing current developments in the world of work. From 2023 to 2024, she hosted the podcast “Work Work Work” for Wondery, where she discussed career paths, change, and decision-making in professional life with her guests. As an author, she has published two nonfiction books. “The World Is Ending, and I Still Have to Work?” was published in 2023, became a SPIEGEL bestseller, and received the Readers’ Choice Award of the German Business Book Prize. In 2024, she followed up with “Can’t Someone Else Do It?”, in which she examines the future of work and the effects of artificial intelligence on the workplace. That same year, she contributed an essay on work in the climate crisis to the anthology “Unlearn CO2”, which was also a SPIEGEL bestseller. Since early 2022, she has been self-employed as an author, speaker, and moderator. She gives keynote talks, hosts events (including digital ones), and collaborates with companies and organizations in workshops. She also serves as a sparring partner for executives. Through her work, she provides orientation in a rapidly changing work environment and creates an informed basis for discussions on technology, work, climate, and equal opportunity.
