Martin Schulz has been Chief Economist of the Fujitsu Group since 2020. After completing his studies in economics and political science and obtaining his doctorate at the Free University of Berlin, Martin Schulz initially lectured at universities in Tokyo and Berlin. His focus was on economic policy and monetary integration. This was followed by visiting professorships at several European universities, including in Italy, Poland and Japan. In 1998, Martin Schulz worked as an economic adviser for ZDF. From 2000 to 2020, the renowned economic expert served as Senior Economist at the Fujitsu Research Institute. At the ‘think tank’ of Japan’s leading IT service provider, he was responsible for analysing the interplay between technology and the economy, macroeconomics and economic policy, as well as international corporate strategies. He also served as a visiting scholar at the Bank of Japan.
