Germany's most popular Graduate Meteorologist, TV Presenter

Sven Plöger is one of the best-known and most popular weather presenters on German television. He says of himself that he has a "weather-is-exciting"- gene - and manages to effortlessly transfer this enthusiasm to his viewers. Born in Bonn in 1967, Sven Plöger has been fascinated by the sky, clouds and aviation since he was a child. Thanksto his love of physics at school, he wanted to become a meteorologist from a young age. He studied meteorology in Cologne until 1996 and, after graduating, took up the offer to work as a meteorologist in the Meteomedia team. This opened up a new perspective for him: the combination of meteorology and media. Today, he presents the ARD weather programme ‘Wetter vor acht’ before the Tagesschau, the weather programmes following the Tagesthemen and numerous TV weather programmes on ARD's third channels (including WDR, NDR, SWR and RBB). In recent years, Sven Plöger has also made a number of highly acclaimed documentaries about all aspects of weather and climate. Sven Plöger is a welcome expert guest on numerous talk shows and major TV programmes, contributing to the current intense debate on climate change and the energy transition. He also writes guest articles on the current climate debate for publications such as Handelsblatt, mare and Euro am Sonntag, as well as books.
