Jörg Rocholl is President of ESMT Berlin and the Deutsche Bank Professor in Sustainable Finance. He serves as Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board at the German Federal Ministry of Finance and as Chair of the Steering Committee of the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM). The renowned economist is one of the leading experts in corporate finance, sustainable finance, and governance. His research interests cover sustainable finance, corporate finance, corporate governance, financial intermediation, and central banking. His academic work has been published in leading scholarly journals such as the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Review of Financial Studies. His research has also been featured widely in major international media outlets. Before joining ESMT in 2007, Rocholl was Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned his PhD and MPhil in Finance and Economics from Columbia Business School and graduated with distinction in Economics from the University of Witten/Herdecke. He is a member of the Supervisory Board of RWE AG, of the Executive Board of the Schmalenbach Society, and a member of acatech – the German Academy of Science and Engineering. In addition, he is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and a Research Member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI). Jörg Rocholl also serves as Research Professor at the ifo Institute in Munich, is a member of the Advisory Board of the Virchow Foundation for Global Health, a member of the Sustainability Advisory Board of Deutsche Post DHL Group, and Chair of the Advisory Board of the Institute for the Public Sector. He previously worked for the Boston Consulting Group in Frankfurt and London as well as for Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt and New York. His research on sustainable finance, corporate governance, financial intermediation, and central banking regularly appears in leading journals such as the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Review of Financial Studies.
