Philosopher, One of Germany's most important Intellectuals

Peter Sloterdijk is one of the best-known living German philosophers and one of Germany's most important intellectuals. From 1992 to 2017 Sloterdijk held the professorship for philosophy and aesthetics at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung in his hometown of Karlsruhe. From 2001 to 2015, he was rector of the HfG, and after the end of his tenure, he continued to work there as a professor. From 2002 onwards, he moderated the discussion round "Im Glashaus: Das Philosophische Quartett" (In the Glass House: The Philosophical Quartet) together with the writer Rüdiger Safranski for ten years. Since 2008 he has been an associate member of the Frankfurt Future Council. A profound connoisseur of classical literature, he describes himself as a 'philosophical writer' and is an extremely prolific author. His lively lecture activity at home and abroad has raised his profile enormously in recent years. With his perceptive mind and extraordinary rhetoric, he is a welcome speaker at a wide variety of events. Behind the artful, brilliant and sparkling delivery of his sentences is a thorough sceptic and analyst. His lectures are inspiring, entertaining and at the same time intellectually challenging.
