The successful author Rolf Dobelli originally acquired his commercial pilot license and was a CEO and Contractor before he discovered his passion for writing. These experiences are reflected in his best-selling books, where he advises that his readers should keep a healthy skepticism about mass opinions, illusions and false starts. Rolf received his PhD after studying business administration at the University of St. Gallen. He then held leading positions in the economy, such as Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director of various subsidiaries of Swissair. In 1999 he and some of his friends founded their own company Get Abstract, which has become the largest provider of compressed economic literature worldwide. On his 35th Birthday Rolf started writing with great success. Several of his non-fiction books and novels became international bestsellers. His most famous work, ‘The Art of Clear Thinking’, led the bestseller list of Der Spiegel for more than six months, with the following book ‘The Art of Intelligent Action’ becoming a trailing success. The journalist is a member of PEN, the writers' association ADS and sits on the advisory board of Life Science Zurich. He is also the founder and curator of WORLD.MINDS, a community of leaders in science, culture and economy. The general public knows Rolf from his weekly column "Clear Thinking" for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) until the end of 2011, and from Die Zeit and the Sunday newspaper in Switzerland since 2012. He regularly writes book reviews for The Washington Post. His comments appear in publications such as The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Reuters, BBC, Reuters, and CNN.
