Shelly Kupferberg is journalist and presenter. For nearly 30 years she has contributed to many ARD programmes, has presented various cultural, social and book magazines and works as a freelance editor for Deutschlandradio Kultur. Shelly Kupferberg was born in 1974 in Tel-Aviv, and grew up in former West Berlin. She studied journalism, theatre studies and musicology at the Free University Berlin and began working as a journalist for public radio while still a student. As a presenter she can be seen on stages throughout Germany and at the Berlinale with various international writers. For the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin she hosted a "Symphonic Mob" under the direction of conductor Kent Nagano and at the Deutsche Oper Berlin Shelly Kupferberg regularly presents the "Opera Lounge". For Deutschlandfunk Kultur and rbb Kulturradio she presents daily cultural programs. From 1997 to 2000 she took over the management of the artistic operations office of the Jewish Cultural Days Berlin as well as the press and public relations work for the festival, for which she continues to act as artistic advisor. In addition to her regular live radio broadcasts, she moderates numerous readings and conferences, film screenings, and high-profile events for various foundations, ministries, cultural institutions, and festivals. She also hosts on a voluntary basis for Terre des Femmes. In addition to culture, her thematic focuses are education, cultural education, civil society, democracy and participation, discrimination and migration issues.
