Magdalena Neuner made history as the most successful biathlete of all time. Magdalena (*1987) made her first appearance on skis at the age of four, debuted in the biathletes' World Cup in 2006 and won 34 individual races with a total of 63 podium finishes until her retirement from sports. This makes her the most successful athlete in the history of the World Cup. She is a record holder at Biathlon World Championships with twelve gold medals and a total of 17 times on the podium. She was awarded Germany’s Sportswoman of the Year in 2007, 2011 and 2012. She was the most successful German athlete at the 2010 Olympic Games and received the Fair Play Medal from the German Olympic Society for her decision not to compete in the 2010 Olympic biathlon relay in favour of team-mate Martina Beck. She carried the German flag at the closing ceremony. After retiring from active sports, Magdalena’s schedule remains busy. She is an enthusiastic recreational golfer, develops her own sports collection, represents German winter sports at numerous events and talks about her experiences in professional sports in interviews.
