Antonia Rados is one of the most experienced and best-known war correspondents on German-language television. She has been reporting from the world's war and crisis regions for more than four decades before ending her career in 2022. In particular, her reporting on the Iraq war in 2003 and on the democratisation developments in North Africa and the Middle East in the spring of 2011, which was often broadcast live under life-threatening conditions, brought Antonia Rados international recognition. With a doctorate in political science, Antonia Rados (*1953) began working as a freelancer for ORF in 1979 and as an author of reports and documentaries in Lebanon and Iran. In the years that followed, she reported from Eastern Europe, including the revolution in Romania in December 1989. After three years as a special correspondent for ARD, she moved to RTL in 1993, became head of RTL's Paris bureau in 1995, and a year later became the station's chief foreign correspondent. In early 2008, she briefly moved to ZDF before returning to RTL in autumn 2008. Until her retirement in 2022, she was chief foreign reporter for the channels of the RTL media group. The experienced crisis reporter and Middle East expert has made a name for herself, especially with her committed reports from war zones and has received numerous awards for her work. Thus she was awarded the Austrian media prize Romy for the documentary "Our Friend Saddam", a co-production with ARTE, the Hanns Joachim Friedrichs Prize and the German Television Prize. She was also honoured with the Robert Geisendörfer Award and the Bavarian Television Award as well as receiving the "Goldene Medienlöwin" award in Austria for her life's work to date. After retiring from television, Antonia Rados continues to see her task in awakening courage and vigilance in people. She is a much sought-after speaker, works as an entrepreneur and is the founder of the "Woman Club A+ Friends The Social Hub" in Vienna.
