Hans-Peter Burghof holds the chair of the banking and finance department at the university of Hohenheim, is chief executive of the Stiftung Kreditwirtschaft and university professor.
After his school education in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler and his military service he made an apprenticeship at the Sparkasse Neuwied and collected first professional experiences.
From 1988 until 1993 he studied economics at the University of Bonn and from 1993 to 2002 he was resaearch associate and assistant at the Ludwigs-Maximilian-University of Munich where he also wrote his dissertation and habilitation.
From 2002 to 2003 he was interim professor at the University of Mainz.
Professor Burghof is a sought-after expert on talk shows and in interviews and holds keynotes in German and English. Burghof ignores the dusty academic language and prefers to say things straightforwardly thus he is one of the most sought-after academics in Germany when an assessment of the financial markets is needed.
