Joe Kaeser is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Siemens Energy AG. Until February 2021, he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens AG. He also serves on the Board at Linde plc and is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Daimler Truck AG. Mr. Kaeser has over 40 years of experience at Siemens, where he has held a variety of leading management positions in finance and strategy, both within and outside Germany. After graduating with a degree in business administration, Joe Kaeser (*1957) began his career at Siemens in 1980 in the field of components and semiconductors, where he also worked in Malaysia and the United States. In 1999 he joined the Corporate Finance department. In 2001 he was appointed Chief Financial Officer of the Information and Communication Mobile Group. From 2004 to 2006, he served as Siemens’ Chief Strategy Officer and from 2006 until 2013 he served as the company’s Chief Financial Officer before he took on the role of the Chief Executive Officer. During his time as CEO, Joe Kaeser has fundamentally transformed Siemens: Out of an engineering driven one-size-fits-all conglomerate, he created three focused and market driven Siemens companies, Siemens AG, Siemens Energy AG and Siemens Healthineers AG, resulting in significant value creation since then. In 2015, he’s been the first company CEO of notable size in the sector, who pledged his company to become carbon-neutral by 2030. In 2018, he introduced “serving society” as the leading purpose of Siemens, starting a movement, which has now become globally known as “stakeholder capitalism”. By introducing creative share ownership incentives, he managed to win over more than 300,000 employees to own Siemens shares. Since 2016, Siemens has been named “most admired company” in its sector by Fortune for 6 years in a row. Outside Siemens, Mr. Kaeser has been a powerful voice in the public, speaking up for values like inclusion, tolerance and fairness and against nationalism, populism and racism. With this, he’s been one of very few CEO’s of size and impact, who have been participating in political, environmental, and socio-economic leadership dialogue.
