Dunja Hayali is the very popular and well-liked main anchor of ZDF morning show.
During her years working as a presenter for ZDF she has become one of the prominent faces of the TV channel.
Dunja grew up in Westphalia as the daughter of Iraqi parents. While studying at the German Sports University she completed various internships at radio and television stations.
Her TV career started at Deutsche Welle, Germany’s international broadcaster, where she hosted the news programme 'Journal' before she started working for ZDF in 2007 where she anchored the daily main newscast “Heute” and co-anchored the nightly newscast “Heute Journal”. Since 2010 she is main presenter of ZDF morning show “Morgenmagazin” and besides she presents several other political as well as entertaining TV programmes.
For the documentation “My heart is in Africa” Dunja travelled to Mozambique, Senegal and Uganda in 2008 together with author Henning Mankell. Among her broad social engagement, Dunja is Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF and supports the nationwide organization “Gesicht zeigen!” for a liberal minded Germany.
